Many of you are familiar with our Buddy Benches on the playground. Their purpose is for students to sit on them when they do not have anyone to play with at recess. The goal is that students will notice the child on the Buddy Bench and invite them to play.
Buddy Benches ARE:
- a way for students to meet new classmates
- express they would like to play with peers
- a last resort for students who cannot find a friend or group to play with
Buddy Benches ARE NOT:
- a resting place
- a place a child should sit everyday
- managed by playground monitors
Please discuss the Buddy Benches at home with your child. We ask for your partnership in helping your child foster fun and healthy friendships!
