Fourth Grade Parent Program at Symmes

FOURTH GRADE PARENT PROGRAM

Fourth grade parents are invited to a special program on Tuesday, March 24th at 7:00 P.M. in Symmes’ Multi-Purpose Room.  This is an adult evening designed to introduce you to the fourth grade growth and development curriculum.   Some suggestions for communicating with your child about the changes and challenges he/she will be experiencing in the next few years will be given in a brief presentation that evening by Mrs. Ferron, our school nurse.   You will also have an opportunity to view the videos that your sons and daughters will see in class.

If you have never attended one of these preview nights, we strongly urge you to do so.   Your children will be highly encouraged in class to discuss this subject matter with you.   It will be so much easier for you to share ideas with them, if you know what they have been taught.

Change of Dates

Every May we invite our parents, grandparents and friends, who have volunteered in any way in our school, to come for a breakfast to honor YOU!  The school calendar has the time listed as 8:15.  This year, we have decided to change the time to LUNCH at 11:30. You may come at any time between 11:30 - 1:30.  We wanted to give you plenty of time to note the change on your calendar.  More information will come home as the date gets closer.

The other change on our calendar is April 9th.  We will NOT have family Math Night this year.

Safe Schools of Ohio

Sycamore is now using the Safer Schools Ohio tip line, a hotline that will allow students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcementabout threats to student safety. The tip line accepts both calls and text messages 24 hours a day and is free of charge to Ohio schools.
Whether the safety concern involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student, the tip line can be used to alert authorities to the issue. Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up. Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to local school officials, local law enforcement agencies and others, if necessary. A new "Report A Tip" button is located on the www.SycamoreSchools.org home page to direct tipsters to the new call/text line
